How do we respond to expectations?
The question is both directed to the inner and outer expectations.
Is there a difference in our behaviour and responses, if the expectations are coming from other people and surrounding culture, or if the expectations come from the inside?
Do we tend to meet both inner and outer expectations, neither one or just the outer ones?
Gretchen Rubin (upholder) has written books on the matter and has put together a quiz for those who like to be quizzed. She has defined this framework:
Upholders want to know what should be done.
Questioners want justifications.
Obligers need accountability.
Rebels want freedom to do something their own way.
Thought to be a questioner but apparently it does not seem to be my predominant category.
